I OFFER:
Romsey Home Physiotherapy was set up by Jane Heyer to provide a home physiotherapy service within Hampshire.
Mrs JANE HEYER MCSP, HCPC Registered Chartered Physiotherapist
I believe treatment is most effective and the best results achieved when you are in the familiar surroundings of your own home.
You can receive the treatment in a familiar place and in a relaxed way, without the anxiety or worry of travelling to a clinic or gym.
I am a member of The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, the Association of Orthopaedic Chartered Physiotherapists, Private Community Physiotherapists UK and The Posture and Mobility Group. In addition I am involved in physiotherapy networks for Older People, Community Rehabilitation and evidence-based practice.
Outside of work my main hobby is running (I’m a member of a local running club and their social secretary).
I also enjoy cycling, the theatre, book club and gardening.
I qualified as a physiotherapist from Salford University in 1978. After working in Canterbury and at King’s College Hospital, London, I emigrated to Canada.
Here I gained valuable experience in orthopaedics, sports injuries and respiratory medicine both within state hospitals and private practice. I then moved to Sweden, where I worked with orthopaedic patients and within elderly care.
On returning to England in 1996, I started working at Spire Southampton Hospital. During my 13 years there I developed my role and for the last 4 years was the Lead Physiotherapist for the inpatient physiotherapy team.
I worked closely with the consultants and nursing team, both on the orthopaedic and cardiac/general surgery wards and intensive care unit.
I am experienced in the provision of wheelchairs for people with complex medical conditions, having worked for Hampshire Wheelchair Service.
I have gained vast experience over the years, working primarily with orthopaedic and respiratory patients. I have completed numerous post-graduate courses. Continuous learning is very important to me.
I am passionate about achieving the best results for my patients regardless of age or presenting condition. It is vital to listen to people’s needs and understand what is important to that individual.
I gain great satisfaction from finding solutions to everyday problems and difficulties that confront my patients.
I work hard to provide a holistic approach to my patients’ rehabilitation, health and well-being.
I will ask you some basic details to establish if your needs can be met by Romsey Home Physiotherapy.
If appropriate, an appointment will be made for me to visit at a time that suits you. If I am out visiting clients, please leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
At the initial visit I will take a detailed history of your presenting condition and your full medical history, including your medication. I will then make a thorough assessment and discuss my findings with you.
We’ll then talk about what you want to achieve through physiotherapy. I will advise you whether or not your physiotherapy goals are realistic and discuss your treatment options. As soon as we agree on your goals, I can arrange a personal physiotherapy programme tailored to your individual needs.
Equipment needs and their provision will be discussed as appropriate.
Initial assessment and treatment will last a minimum of 11/2 hours.
The number of treatments you require is very individual and will depend on the presenting condition and diagnosis. The treatment may consist of a single episode of assessment and advice, a course of several sessions, intermittent reviews or regular maintenance therapy. I will discuss this with you. The earlier I treat your condition the better the outcome and recovery.
Follow-up treatment sessions last a minimum of one hour. They consist of treatment, education, advice and support. Therapy will continuously evolve with your health progression.
